Matt Fletcher’s Background

Matt Fletcher is a Michigan-based home inspector, commercial property inspector, educator, licensed builder, and founder of Global Inspection School. With more than 25 years of inspection experience and over 10,000 residential and commercial inspections completed, Matt has established himself as one of the most experienced inspectors in the Detroit metropolitan area.

Matt’s background in construction began at an early age, working alongside his father, a contractor. He later put himself through college by rehabilitating homes while developing hands-on experience in construction, renovation, electrical work, and property investment. Over the years, he has personally renovated and flipped numerous residential properties, giving him practical knowledge that extends well beyond the classroom.

His educational achievements include an Associate Degree from Macomb Community College, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Detroit, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Wayne State University. Matt graduated with honors and later became a state-certified construction trades teacher, teaching high school building trades programs where students constructed real homes as part of their training.

Before becoming a full-time inspector, Matt worked as a construction educator and real estate investor. His expertise spans residential inspections, commercial property inspections, industrial facilities, apartment complexes, shopping centers, parking structures, environmental assessments, radon testing, mold investigations, lead inspections, and Property Condition Assessments (PCAs) for lenders and investors. He is also a licensed builder, certified mold inspector, certified radon measurement professional, and certified lead inspector.

Matt is the founder and lead instructor of Global Inspection School, an online training program that prepares students for careers in home inspection. Combining his experience as a teacher, builder, investor, and inspector, Matt developed the curriculum to provide practical, real-world training for future inspectors. Today, Global Inspection School serves students throughout the United States and internationally.

In addition to his inspection and educational work, Matt has been featured in real estate investment publications, including books by Robert J. Hill and John T. Reed, which highlighted successful property rehabilitation and investment projects he completed. His extensive background in construction, teaching, inspection, and real estate investing allows him to provide clients and students with a unique perspective on building performance and property evaluation.

Today, Matt continues to perform inspections throughout Michigan while educating the next generation of home inspectors through Global Inspection School.
